As part of an editorial in today's RG, the editor raised the taboo subject of decriminalisation. I never thought I'd find an ideological ally in Bill Zuill, however this is a issue that has merit and deserves debate. Do you feel that Bermuda's drug laws should be re-examined? Do you believe such reform will help or hurt the situation in Bermuda?
The community has to look at the causes of crime and gang violence much more closely, and the fact that drugs and the profits to be made from drugs are largely responsible for this cycle of violence.
As we reflect on a decade of solid governance, our party must also forge ahead and modernize
On November 4, 2008, I was fortunate to be in Washington DC to witness the instantaneous mass celebrations as the United States and the world celebrated Barack Obama's election as President of the United States. As I enjoyed the festivities marking the 10th anniversary of the PLP's ascendancy to government, I saw the pictures and watched the footage of the momentous night 10 years ago on the November night in 1998, and it was clear that what the United States experienced last week was what Bermuda experienced 10 years ago.
Below is a statement in response to yet another Mid Ocean News creation that passes for news. Today, they went after me.

I find it curious that Today’s Mid-Ocean News got wrong what its sister paper the Royal Gazette and dozens of international publications got right, that 3M is the contractor for the Electronic Vehicle Registration (EVR) System being implemented for the Transport Control Department.
What I find amusing is the fact that some in the community are incredulous that many supporters of the PLP pay no attention to what is printed in the Mid-Ocean ‘News’. There is a reason for that, the Mid Ocean ‘News’ is nothing more that Bermuda’s version of the National Enquirer. Take today’s story that MPs have approached the premier and asked him to resign, this from a PLP source.
How interesting to hear the news report on ZBM last evening that the flag at Government House is still flying at full mast. I swore there was a release from the Government stating something to the effect of "Flags on all Government Buildings are to be lowered to half mast until the funeral".
Then to hear from government house that this is a privelege exteneded only to "Senior Members of the Royal Family and Reigining Monarchs", was just the icing on the cake. I guess I'll give them a little credit for relenting to lower the flag for the day of the funeral.
Below is a statement that was sent to the press last evening.
Tonight the United Bermuda Party owes a lot of people an apology and the family of Dame Lois Browne-Evans should be at the top of that list.
About 10 days ago, Grant Gibbons decided to pen an editorial in the newspaper about the PLP being "Mean Spirited"

I thought it appropriate that my first entry on this blog deal with some of the items where he felt the need to take exception to my comments.
