I find it very interesting that Kim Swan applied for a job that he knew would require him to quit his post as Opposition Leader and as an MP.

Does Kim want out? Given the nature of the UBP, it wouldn't surprise me if he wanted to follow in the footsteps of Gwyneth Rawlins, Max Burgess, Wayne Furbert and Jamahl Simmons.

Interesting question
Rocksolid,
I was asking myself that question as well. Perhaps he just wanted a better paying job, as i think the golf pro job would pay more than the Opp Leader. But for someone like Kim Swan who has been running since early 1980s and who was just elected in the last election, it seems strange that he would put his political career on the line and apply for this job.
Perhaps he has had enough of politics, and once he became an MP and Opp Leader he realized that it wasnt for him.
Maybe he knows more than we do about the internal workings of the UBP and that maybe they will be 'reorganizing' soon, and he may not be part of that reorganization.
Interestingly if Dr Brown had applied to be one of the hospitalists at the Hospital, i am sure there would be questions about whether he wanted out of politics all over the Bermuda media. Lol.
Last Point
Your last point is a very good one. If the Premier applied for another job, there would be story after story on the front page of the Royal Gazette questioning his leadership and his desire to serve. But, Kim Swan gets a pass? Where's the Royal Gazette's 'anonymous sources' story speculating about the reasons why Kim Swan is trying to get out of politics? Where's the other story questioning his authority as the leader? If this story were about the PLP, you know Bill Zuill would be drooling.
