I would like to take this opportunity to express condolences to the family of Dame Lois Browne-Evans. Dame Lois was the epitome of a hero in Bermuda. She championed civil rights, women's rights, and fought tirelessly for equality in Bermuda. She is truly an icon in not only Bermuda politics but Bermuda life. From winning her Devonshire North seat from 1959, and holding it until her retirement in 2003 as the Attorney General of Bermuda, no one else was so influential, so beloved, and so effective for so long as an advocate for the people of Bermuda. She retired at the General Election of 2003 so that she could enjoy the remaining years of her life without the stress of politics, but she was never too far removed. She was not only a part of Bermuda, but Bermuda was a part of her! Bermuda was in her heart.
Her legacy shall and will live on! I trust she will be remembered for all that she done for her and our country of Bermuda!

Don't really know what to say...
I'm still kind of in shock about this development. Kind of like a bolt out of the blue this one. At least I know she was laughing and joking about right up till the end. Best wishes to the family.
My Condolences
I would also like to send my condolences to the family of Dame Lois Brown- Evans, A true heroine of Bermuda politics. All that she has accomplished during the time when the odds were stacked against her are the reason we have the freedoms we enjoy today.
Sad day for Bermuda
Dame Louis epitomised the strong female leader, and her presence in Bermuda will be felt for many generations to come. Condolensces to her family.
Another Bermudian Icon Passes
Bermuda has lost another Icon. Last I saw her was on Saturday in the grocery store. Her legacy will live on forever, a truely great woman, matter of fact a great Bermudian.
Only few people in their life time will achieve what she achieved. My condolences to her family
A Great Woman
Lois Browne Evans is a role model to me; a strong woman who was compassionate, human and stood for what she believed in. Through all the challenges and for all her successes she never seemed to lose her enjoyment for life, her love for the people of Bermuda , and her sense of what was truly important. She lived her life to its fullest until the very end.
May she live on through the Bermuda that is a better place because of her – and through the lives of the MANY she has inspired.
My deepest sympathies go out to her family- and my thoughts go out to all my fellow Bermudians as together we morn the passing of a truly great woman.
A Distinguished Lady
While I never knew Dame Lois Brown Evans personally, my father served with her in parliament, albeit on the other side of the floor. From every story or anecdote that I ever heard from my father she was the ultimate politician. They could argue on the floor from their own respective political beliefs, but if they met outside the House, they would give each other a hug and enjoy each other's company. I was extremely touched when, after the many years, upon my father's passing she and her family had the courtesy to personally phone my mother and offer their condolences (notwithstanding their differences in political belief)
As a politician, there has been no equal within the PLP and she should be remembered as such.
I wish I had had the opportunity to know her as my father did.
